The Camino de Santiago,
     the del Norte/Primitivo route.
Spain: From Irun to Santiago de Compostela, 500 miles.
Post 20; June 20, 2016, Monday.
Day six of trekking: Gernika to Lezama, 24 Km.

4:30 p.m. We made it to our albergue in Lezama Looks like this is the only albergue in town. It’s basically one big room: bunk beds, washing machines, check in, dinner table, bathrooms and showers, and that’s about it. We ran into our two nurse friends from the U.S., Hannah and Ashley. They are sleeping in the bunk beds next to me. Leo is here, and the other pilgrims are checking in. We’re all up to date on everyone’s trek for the day. It was a good day, sunny, and the very first day I work my trekking shorts. The first five days of this trek were basically windy, chilly, and raining. But, today things are looking up weather wise.

The trek to Lezama was ok. Beautiful at times but mostly road once we got close to Lezama. I mostly trek with two German ladies that spoke some English. Most of the talking was survival talking, making sure we made the right turns, found things to eat and drink (which was impossible, unless we brought something). The stop that saved us was Larrabetzu where we found a tavern, Irusta. Most of the pilgrims of the day were there, or eventually got there. We ate, drank, and talked about life, and mostly their life left behind in some other country around the world.
